How should lead/acid batteries be stored?

    One of the most important requirements to proper battery storage is adequate ventilation.  Batteries should never be stored or recharged in an unventilated, enclosed space.  The recommended storage temperature for most batteries is 15°C (59°F); the extreme allowable temperature range is -40°C to 50°C (-40°F to 122°F).  Lead/Acid batteries must all be kept at full charge during storage and can be stored up to 2 years.  NOTE:  Since all batteries gradually discharge over time, it is important to check the voltage and then apply a charge when the battery falls below 70 percent state-of-charge.
